There are six nurses within the surgical nursing team. They are Helen, Jess, Jemma, Sharon, Alana & Melissa. Their skill base ranges from managing anaesthesia and administering epidural analgesia, through to intensive nursing of trauma cases and critical evaluation of a patient's progress. A typical day includes preparing the theatre and the patient for surgery, specific to individual requirements, managing anaesthesia and post-operative recovery, managing the care of hospitalised patients including pain relief, wound management, feeding, fluid therapy, and following up on patients that have been discharged.
RADIOLOGY NURSING TEAMPam, Leash & Rau co-ordinate the imaging suite. Their skills in producing top quality radiography and providing ultrasound assistance optimise the functionality of the in-house diagnostic 'hub'. A typical day for these nurses includes co-ordinating out-patient requests with in-house workload, taking the radiographs and developing the final image, assisting with ultrasound-guided biopsies, managing anaesthesia and co-ordination of patient movement at MRI and CT studies.
MEDICAL NURSING TEAMThere are six nurses within the medical nursing team. They are Hannah-Jane, Shannon, Yiwen, Fiona, Val & Jamie. Their skills range from triaging critical patients, placing IV catheters, managing IV fluid therapy, managing nutritional requirements of the various patients, taking blood samples, taking ECG's, working out & preparing chemotherapy doses, assisting with chemotherapy administration, assisting with endoscopy, providing enemas, running blood glucose curves, nursing cats during their stay following their radioactive iodine treatment, and many other tasks!OVERNIGHT STAFFWhen VSG® is closed overnight and at weekends, our patients are monitored and cared for by an on-site veterinarian and veterinary nursing staff.
RECEPTION STAFFLissa, Chrissy, Debbie E & Debbie R answer the calls from clients and referring veterinarians, co-ordinating requests and enquiries to the appropriate recipient. Their administrative skills allow efficiency and professionalism, and vital co-ordination in this dynamic environment. Owing to the number of pets these staff members each have, compassion comes easy when dealing with pets and their owners these girls really understand what owners are going through!
ADMINISTRATION STAFFDebbie, Keith & Sharyn look after the administration side of VSG®. Debbie takes care of the accounts. Keith is the hospital manager for VSG®. Sharyn takes care of the marketing for VSG®. The administration team are all part time workers who work extremely well together.
